ELDER AND DEACON CANDIDATES 2025

Elder Candidate

Ming-Te Cheng

Born and raised in Montreal, Brother Ming-Te Cheng first attended the Montreal Chinese Alliance Church (MCAC) with his parents in 1986 and later became part of the Montreal Chinese Alliance Grace Church (MCAGC) when it was founded in 1988. He came to know Christ as his Lord and Saviour after experiencing God’s love through brothers and sisters at church during the time leading up to the 1998 Ice Storm, and was baptized that December.

Since then, Ming-Te has been grateful for many opportunities to serve at MCAGC—as a Sunday School teacher, church deacon, and one of the founders of the English worship team. From 2020 to 2024, he served on the Board as Finance Elder and continues to serve today as a worship leader and active member of Daniel Fellowship.

Professionally, Ming-Te works as a software developer at Morgan Stanley, where he has been since 2017. He holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the Université de Montréal and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from Concordia University.

Deacon Candidates

Leo (Li) Yan

Originally from Taizhou, Zhejiang, Brother Leo came to know the gospel during his university years after his parents became believers and was baptized in Shanghai in 2015. He joined Grace Church in 2023 and is now part of the “Not the Same” fellowship group.

A software engineer by profession, Leo and his wife have two daughters, ages 9 and 5. Grateful for God’s leading, he hopes to serve with humility and grow together with brothers and sisters in Christ, bearing witness to God’s grace.

Zhihong

Brother Zhihong is from Gansu, China. He first heard the gospel through a classmate, Sister Liu Kang, and began attending a Basic Truth class in 2008. He was baptized that Christmas and has since faithfully participated in worship and ministry. His wife, Sister Sun Jiehui, was baptized on Easter 2009, and their son and parents-in-law together on Christmas 2010.

Zhihong has long served in the church choir and previously completed one term as a deacon overseeing administrative affairs.

Zhiwen Bo

Brother Zhiwen was baptized in 2013 and began studying God’s Word in the Mandarin Bible Study Group that same year. He has faithfully served in the choir ever since. In 2015, he helped form the “Grass-Eating” small group, where he led Bible studies and witnessed God’s faithfulness and the growth of the body.

Over the past decade, Zhiwen has served in both the Service and Outreach ministries and, during the pandemic, took part in online worship. He married Sister Zou Yueyue in 2019, and their daughter, Bo Halu, was born in 2022. Becoming a father has deepened his appreciation for spiritual inheritance. Recently, he and his family have been serving in the Children’s Sunday School ministry, guiding children to worship, learn God’s Word, and build a genuine relationship with Him.

Relying on God’s grace, Zhiwen hopes to continue serving the church with humility, love, and faithfulness—to be a vessel useful in the Lord’s hands. He humbly asks for the congregation’s prayers and God’s continued guidance.

Ben (Benjamin) Sauv

Brother Ben Sauv grew up in Grace Church, surrounded by many who now serve as elders and deacons. He and his wife met here and were both active in the worship ministry in earlier years.

Ben is a devoted husband, father, son, brother, friend, and church member. Through serving his family, he has learned humility, patience, and attentiveness to God’s signs and timing. In his professional role as a Canada Customs Officer, he has developed focus, discipline, and integrity, and occasionally has the opportunity to share his faith with colleagues.

As a father of four, Ben is deeply committed to the Children’s Sunday School ministry, organizing and teaching alongside other parents to help children remain rooted in Christ.

He looks forward to serving faithfully with both the current and new leadership teams—bringing fresh ideas, collaboration, and a humble spirit to support the growth of the church and to help fulfill the Great Commission.
